Verifiable Credentials
Securely exchanging digital evidence
Public organisations must be able to exchange digital evidence, such as diplomas or licences, securely and across borders. Verifiable Credentials (VCs) kept in digital wallets are the perfect solution for this: they enable citizens and businesses to share reliable, self-administered data, fully in line with the new European eIDAS 2.0 legislation.
RINIS assists organisations that wish to explore the possibilities of Verifiable Credentials. This also includes connection to European infrastructures such as EBSI (see page 44). We provide strategic advice, set up the link, handle the administration and, if required, assist with pilot and test projects. If you purchase this service through RINIS, we are there to guide you through the entire process: from advice and initial assessment all the way up to and including the technical implementation, certificate management, monitoring and support for interoperability between wallets and existing systems.
Architecture
VCs have a decentralised architecture, in which issuers, holders and verifiers all play a role. The wallets are set up in accordance with European guidelines and ensure that data are shared only on request and in a controlled manner. RINIS ensures that the connections between these wallets and Dutch and European systems are secure and reliable.
Technology
VCs are cryptographically protected in accordance with international standards and are validated via networks such as EBSI. This ensures secure issuance, storage and verification, with minimal data sharing. RINIS administers the Dutch EBSI facility and provides practical support with the implementation, for instance by way of pilot schemes and modernisation programs.
